The regulations and controls for bottled water are much stricter than for public drinking water. While companies can use domestic water sources, all of the chemicals have to be removed from the water through a purification process. When the bottled water manufacturer sends out bottles of their product to be analyzed the report from the bottled water analysis is sent to the Food and Drug Administration. Companies that comply with all of the regulations and quality standards will then receive a certificate of analysis from the independent company that tested the quality of the water. One advantage to the independent companies that test the bottled water is their assistance to the bottling companies. If impurities or other problems are found during the analysis stage, the independent company can make suggestions and provide technical support to help the bottling company to further purify and clean their bottled water. Not only that but these companies help to keep the bottling companies up to date on current regulations, changes in regulations, licensing requirements and even troubleshoot potential problems that might arise from the methods that the bottling company processes the bottled water. You cannot just put water in a bottle and sell it as bottled water. There are many regulations that bottling companies must follow in order to meet the Food and Drug Administration standards as well as other organizations such as International Bottled Water Association and World Health Organization. Independent testing and analysis is an important part of the process to ensure that water is pure, clean and consumable. |
